Trenggalek regency is located between 111˚24’ and 112˚11’ east longitude and 75˚3’ and 8˚34’south latitude. Trenggalek borders on
Tulungagung in the north and in the east, Indian Ocean on the south, and
Ponorogo and Pacitan on the west. Trenggalek is 180 km away from the capital
city of East Java, Surabaya and it takes about 5 hours by public
transportation. This regency has 1.205,22 square kilometers width and inhabited
by more or less 800.000 people. Tenggalek regency has 14 districts, 152
villages and 5 subdistricts. The inhabitants of Trenggalek are dominated by
farmer, fishermen, private officer, and state official officer, teacher, and
some other people are working abroad either in formal and informal job area.
The commodity of Trenggalek regency is
agriculture consisting of rice, corn, cassava, soybean, and peanut. Besides,
there is plantation consisting of sugar cane, clove, tobacco, durian, zalacca,
mangos teen, rambutan, coffee, cocoa, coconut, banana and lanseh tree. In addition,
Trenggalek also has soy sauce industry, syrup, tapioca dried fish, batik,
snack, turpentine, cigarette, sawmill, construction material, roof tile and
brick. Trenggalek is also rich of natural resources like marble, mangan,
kaolin, piropilit, etc.
Due to the fact that Trenggalek is
bordered on Indian Ocean in the south, it has many tourism objects which are
very beautiful. Trenggalek has cave, beaches, forest park, and many other
places. Trenggalek has the largest, longest and most beautiful cave in Southeast
Asia, which is called Goa Lawa. Besides, Trenggalek also has another smaller

THE HISTORY of TRENGGALEK
Trenggalek people who
became the origin of Trenggalek residents, began since prehistoric era, since
the stone age about 10,000 years BC.
Originally the community lived in small and independent groups. Then more
migrants were come. Then, began to live in a larger group, which gave birth of
the village. Then started living in large groups that lived side by side with
an orderly order in society.
They didn’t know the
letters because it was still prehistoric era. They weren’t recognizable by the
existenced of a written stone, but from the presenced of signs in a place, with
the existenced of a marker of life in the form of artifacts and others. It was
characterized by the stone relics of tools of domestic life, hunting tools,
farming and etc.
The prehistoric era
ended with the entry of Hinduism and
Buddhism. They taught about the Deity, the Godhead in accordance with the
concept of the Deity of Hinduism and Buddhism. Hinduism also taught letters for
literacy. Then came the inscriptions, inscriptions of stone written and others.
The pre-historic era
ended, and began the era of history. At the same time the village has started

Beach
Prigi beach area is ±

ordered Yudhonegoro to open Prigi area which was still a jungle, becoming a

party takes place on Monday Kliwon, Selo month on Javanese calendar. In the
